Brasov travel guide

Brasov (the Saxon dialect) Kruhnen, Krűnen, Krînen, German: Kronstadt, Hungarian: Brassó, in Latin: Brassovia / Corona, also on old maps and Brasov Cronstadt past) is the capital and largest city of Brasov, Romania . According to the 2002 census, has a population of 284,596 inhabitants, is one of the largest cities in the country (though declining in the last two decades due to emigration of the Saxons and the reduction in industrial activity). According to latest official estimates of the National Institute of Statistics, the population of Brasov city was in 2009, of 278,003 inhabitants. Winter resort Poiana Brasov is 12 km away from the center of a well-developed infrastructure for winter sports. Patron of the city is considered to be the Virgin Mary.
